The purpose of this chapter is to help us how to set up our future while evaluating our present. Periodically evaluating our career helps us to assess the progress we have made and plan our next move. A career plan outlines the path we plan to take to achieve our career goals. It should include the education, job experience and industry knowledge we need to gain to reach the job of our dreams. The plan should also incorporate a timeline and milestones that we hope to reach at certain points along our career path.
When talking about setting up my future I am looking to gain a positive experience from the decision I have made for myself. One positive experience I hope to take away from attaining higher education is being able to network with different types of people, and attending a university will give me that chance. I believe that creating relationships through networking would be beneficial to me and learning exactly how to connect with people on different levels whether it is age, culture, or just the diverse outlooks on life someone might come by in the wide range of situations associated with my career choice. The feeling of self accomplishment I would achieve upon completion would be of great personal value for me to take away. It will give me the confidence that I need to achieve my goals.
Chapter 10The initial impression you make on others is, if not indelible, certainly a huge determinant in how people will feel about you for quite some time. It is one of the main reasons why we could be a good candidate for the position we are applying for, of course, including our experiences and education level if is required. If you make a bad impression upfront, you will have to combat that bias. It's like running uphill. On the other hand, if you make a good impression, you can ride on it. It's like running downhill. That being said makes sure to dress professionally, smile, give a firm handshake, and introduce you properly.
The thing that is the most important when attending an interview is not how you answer questions. It is the impression that you leave behind. The first thing about making a good impression is to be positive. Condition your mind to be positive and optimistic about your future so that when you see the interviewer for the first time as he or she walks towards you, that smile that is on your face is sincere.
To conclude, remember that you will be chosen not based on any specific answers that you give, but on the overall impression that you leave behind. Trusting yourself is the central and most important thing you need to remember. If you don't trust yourself, nobody will.
